Marketing Plan
After much research, I have decided on 3 different forms of marketing that proved to work well for other fashion magazines and I could apply to my own magazine. I believe these marketing techniques will be beneficial in drawing in a larger audience of readers, along with helping to engage my audience on a level beyond on the print that gives Belle Fleur an even more positive image.
One form of marketing I will use is a promotional event. Similar to the way Elle has the Elle Weekender and Vogue created an event called Vogue Festival, I will host an event for Belle Fleur. This promotional weekend-long event will be called Belle Bash and it will include various interactive and hands-on events for loyal readers, along with new ones. Some of these events would include booths for people to receive makeup tips from our editors and experts, pop-up shops for beauty and fashion essentials such as mascara or a pair of heels, speakers that are models, stylists, or bloggers, and much more. With these endless opportunities wrapped into one weekend of fun, people will be more intrigued by Belle Fleur magazine, along with more likely to want to read the magazine to learn more about the expert advice that received from editors. Additionally, an event like this will give the magazine a good name, making people want to find out more about what it has to offer.
Another form of marketing I will use is a beauty box. This beauty box will be called BelleBox. Each month, those who subscribe to the box will receive 5-6 beauty products at their doorstep for $15 a month with an overall value of at least $50. These beauty products will be hand-picked by editors and beauty specialists who will ensure the monthly subscribers will love them and be more likely to buy the brands in the future. This will help to engage the audience and bring in more readers, because once they realize this magazine is promoting brands they enjoy using and want to use more, they will turn to the print media. They will be more likely to trust the judgement of the magazine and want to read more about the tips, tricks, and trends of the fashion world today.
Lastly, I plan to use social media accounts including Instagram and Twitter to promote the magazine and reach the audience that is attached to technology. Here you can see an example of the Instagram page for Belle Fleur called @bellefleurmag. On the page, included is the location, an email address in case you want to contact the magazine or get a subscription, as well as the official website that will take you to current beauty headlines and a way to subscribe to either the magazine or the beauty box. Also, it can be seen that the recent posts reflect the recent issue's cover model, with the main article on fashion and confidence. These photos include short captions to make the people using social media more intrigued about the article and more likely to buy the issue to read the full article. Frequent posting of at least 3-4 posts a day also helps keep the audience engaged and interested in what the magazine is promoting or discussing this month, all helping to engage readers and reach a larger audience.
