CCR Draft #4
In this rough draft of my creative critical reflection, I will be answering the question, "How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware, and online- in this project?" This will be the script I will be following when creating the voice over for my slideshow and it will aid in giving detail on how I incorporated various types of technologies into creating my magazine to get the best outcome.
One of the most important technologies I took advantage of was Microsoft Publisher, an application on my computer that allowed me to layout pages with ease. This was an effective and easy to use piece of software, as it allows you to format in any way you would like, letting you freely place text boxes anywhere and use a variety of fonts. The freedom and simplicity of Publisher was useful for me because I was able to create my most desirable layout and include many aspects of magazines that are common such as a bold masthead in an appealing font and a pull-out quote in the article. The options were truly endless with this application and I used it to my advantage to create an overall realistic and professional looking spread.
Also, for photographing my model, I used a Nikon D3400, allowing for me to take more professional pictures at a high quality. Fortunately, I own this camera and was able to use it freely to take pictures. I used this camera as a way to shoot a few hundred pictures that gave me a wider variety to choose from in the final spread of my magazine, additionally giving my magazine that touch of professionalism it needed. Along with this, my camera had various different features that I took advantage of, including portrait mode, which helped to make my model the focal point of each of my pictures and simultaneously blurred the background.
Finally, I took advantage of the internet as a tool for researching various different topics I needed to understand that told me what goes into producing a magazine. For example, I used the internet to look up examples of magazine covers and what conventions fashion and lifestyle magazines often used. I also used the internet to look up the websites of different magazines to see how they distributed their magazine to their readers through daily articles and a subscribe tab. One other way I utilized the internet was by researching what it meant to distribute a magazine, along with the traditional forms of distribution that included distribution agents. These topics, along with various others, helped me to grasp each step that goes into the process of creating a form of print media such as a magazine, as well as why they're each vital.
